Rockwell Automation: Our Implementation of Provision & Transfer Pricing

Kristin Weaver, Director Domestic Tax, Rockwell Automation
Haley Dobre,  Director - Tax Performance, BDO

For a company the size of Rockwell Automation, using Excel worksheets to analyze, test and record transfer pricing adjustments as well as to compute and report the annual provision was no longer feasible. As our name suggests, it was time for the tax department to use "automation" to complete our tax reporting tasks with less risk, more efficiency and greater transparency. We partnered with BDO and Longview, and began our journey in early 2019. In seven short months, we completed the implementation and replications, and went live both the Provision and Operational Transfer Pricing modules during the Q4 provision period. We are currently in Phase II of our journey, tackling interim reporting, analytics and further enhancing Transfer Pricing to meet our needs. This session will shed light on common implementation considerations, preparedness, lessons learned, etc. in regard to Rockwell's journey with the Longview products.

Learning objectives:
- Things to consider before implementation - managing internal and external stakeholders, appointing dedicated resources, information gathering, importance of design/structure, etc.
- How you can sussessfully leverage Longview''s extensibility
- Tips for a successful "go-live"
- Phase One lessons learned

Keynote - The Coup: How to Lead and Create Disruption within Organizations & Industries

Ron Tite, Purpose-Driven Leadership and Marketing Expert

In 1970, Gil Scott-Heron released a single that would go down as one of the anthems of grassroots movements, "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised". It's the perfect theme song for what businesses are going through these days.

The massive change most of us are experiencing is happening faster than anyone could have predicted. The impact is larger than we ever imagined as companies, movements and institutions we thought were too big to fail are falling. And the organizations and people who are often toppling regimes? They're relative unknowns with limited experience, no legacy, and who usually exist outside the establishment. Because of that, they (and their activities) are undetected until it's too late.

This change is usually defined as "disruption". But it's not disruption. It's a coup.

That's what this humourous and insightful presentation will cover. The Revolution will not be televised. But during this keynote address, it certainly will be planned.
