Interoperability Services Features & Benefits
Related Information
Interoperability Services from Longview Solutions enables you to achieve your interoperability goals of Process Automation and Process Compliance.
The Features:
Interoperability Services are developed based on Service Orientated Architecture (SOA) and Web Services concepts, using industry standards such as:
- Server side, programmable Application Program Interface (API)
- Web standards for application interoperability
- SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)
- XML (Extensible Markup Language)
- Supported by Apache, Microsoft® Internet Information Services (IIS) Web servers
The process of importing any of your relevant source transactional data into the Longview Performance Management Platform, as well as interacting with your enterprise systems, can be automated with the Longview Platform framework. The Longview Platform is based on open Web standards that enable you to flexibly implement automated interoperability functions while eliminating the need for direct human intervention and error.
The Benefits:
Interoperability Services can enable the following advantages:
- Automated hierarchy synchronization facilitates the dynamic exchange of structure information between the Longview Platform and third party systems ensuring that all parts of your organization are operating with standardized metadata.
- Automated data synchronization facilitates the dynamic exchange of data between the Longview Platform and third party systems, eliminating manual intervention in synchronizing and integrating data. In addition to flat file data imports, XML-based feeds can be implemented to automate and schedule bi-directional data movement between the Longview Platform and your source systems.
- Automated security synchronization. Common security is increasingly important to ensure controls across your organization. The automated security synchronization feature ensures that your process is consistent by providing a web framework for processing user authentication in the Longview Platform based on your global standards.
- Process Automation can eliminate the need for manual intervention in executing processes such as:
- Hierarchy maintenance
- Data movement / synchronization
- Security synchronization
- Rollover and restatements
- Context sensitive integration with third party systems has limitless opportunities to provide your users with "one stop shopping" for their strategic finance requirements. Capabilities include the ability to drill directly through to your web enabled Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system from a Longview report, template, or individual data cell.
- Link directly to a document such as an Adobe® PDF to establish an attachment reference that provides further insight or instruction for the task at hand.
In addition, the following integration services are standard with the Longview Performance Management Platform:
- Bridge Definitions provide a Graphical User Interface (GUI) based mapping utility that allows you to graphically define the mappings between your source ASCII flat file data and the corresponding Longview hierarchy account symbols (accounts).
- Import of data and hierarchy changes via flat ASCII file using hierarchy modification syntax within this text file.
- Open DataBase Connectivity (ODBC) drivers which enable you to use any ODBC compliant data extraction tools for raw data extracts, and specialized Business Intelligence (BI) analysis tools.
